Best Seat in the Car
Window down, nose out, ears doing whatever ears do at 60 kilometres an hour.
Best Seat in the Car is part of my Art for Dogs series — art made with a canine audience in mind. I wanted to take a familiar dog experience and draw it using a palette closer to the colours dogs themselves can see.
Nerd notes
A dog's view of the world isn't simply a less colourful version of ours. Their whole visual system has different priorities.
Dogs sacrifice some of the colour and fine detail humans are good at seeing, but their eyes are better adapted for low light and detecting movement. They also generally have a wider field of view than we do (although exactly how wide depends partly on the shape of the dog's head).
Which seems rather well suited to watching an entire world whizz past a car window.
